Hedley has two decades experience in the software industry. He is one of the fortunate few who have managed to turn their passion into a career. Hedley has grown start-ups and built teams of engineers who have successfully migrated companies like Telkom and MTN onto modern bespoke software ecosystems. He is a prolific contributor to open source software.
After serving as CTO for Praekelt Consulting for a number of years Hedley decided it was time to scale down and get back to the hard engineering problems. He joined NMRQL Research, an investment company that leverages machine learning to better forecast and outperform the market, where he developed a keen interest in finance and funding. In between he helped launch South Africa's first crypto index and grew Naspers funded start-up Food Supply Network as CTO.

Tom is not actively involved in the due diligence process - rather, he mentors us on the ever-changing investment landscape. His deep knowledge of Africa and the needs of investors guides us in performing due diligences that deliver exactly what is required. As an avid reader he is usually a few steps ahead of the the rest of us, and an hour in conversation with him prevents weeks of focusing on the wrong things.
